"Welcoming all; celebrating God's grace; equipping the saints; serving the world."
Godly Play is a Montessori-inspired approach to Christian education, which uses Christian language – parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action – to help our children become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. This approach mirrors the same liturgical patterns we observe in the sanctuary – the liturgy of the word is reflected in the storytelling that occurs at the beginning of Sunday school, and the liturgy of the table is mirrored in the feast we share after the children’s work time and before the blessing. In Godly Play, the children are encouraged to “enter” the stories on their own terms; we ask open-ended “wondering” questions at the end of every lesson to help them discover for themselves how each story relates to their daily life.
Parents are welcome to attend the lesson and help with the activities.
